On July 27, 2023, Cainhoy Athletic Soccer Club (CASC) launched a new program to better serve our youngest players. For nearly 15 years we have offered the Micro Academy soccer recreational program for children younger than nine and it has served us well. However, we feel now is the time to design and launch a new offering that will balance our desire to build a complete pathway for our players (into Junior Academy competitive soccer and beyond).
Our new offering will serve children in the U6-U8 age brackets which today include all those born in 2016, 2017, and 2018. We have named this service ‘Rising Stars’ to better reflect the nature of our desire to develop and grow these young ones in confidence and skill. The program will be limited in participation to help us deliver the best possible professional coaching by USSF licensed practitioners led by our Nationally A-licensed Technical Director who has built a syllabus using the latest methods, tools, and philosophies of the US Soccer Federation’s Learning Center.
Children will be split by gender, with all training and games this fall in Mount Pleasant, SC at Trident Academy on Whipple Rd. We will host two training sessions on Wednesday and Friday evenings at 5.30 pm. Participants can elect whichever is most convenient, or even attend both. Curriculum will be the same each evening of the week and follow the following agenda.
- Foot skills (weeks 1 & 2)
- Passing (weeks 3 & 4)
- Pressure and Tackling (weeks 5 & 6)
- Control and Turning
- Shooting
